WHO WERE NIRVANA?
Nirvana were the biggest and best grunge band in the early 90's. They were a trio from Seattle,USA going by the names of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl (now a member of the Foo Fighters) They had many hits such as 'Smells like teen spirit' 'Come as you are' and 'Heart shaped box' and albums 'Bleach', 'Never mind','Incesticide'and 'In Utero'. After Kurt Cobains tradgic death another two albums were released, 'Unplugged in New York' and 'From the muddy banks of the Wishkah'.

Nirvana kept going until the death of Kurt Cobain in April '94.

NIRVANA'S INSPIRATION!!
Kurt Cobain was the main lyricist in Nirvana and he got his inspiration from many events that happenned to him through his short but eventfull life. He wrote songs such as 'About a girl', 'Drain you' and 'Aneurysm' about his previous relationships and 'Something in he way', 'Been a son' and 'Serve the servants' about his childhood experiences.

Kurt Cobain's music was extremly deep and meaningfull and it was obvious that he had had first hand experience with the emotions and topics he was writing about. This was what made Nirvana so different from other bands, their lyrics were real an emotional but the true meanings behind the songs were often very subtle an well disguised.

WHY ARE NIRVANA STILL SO POPULAR??
There are many reasons why Nirvana are still so popular even to this day.

For many, the death ('suicide') of Kurt Cobain in 1994 (which some people find mysterious) is intriguing and makes them want to find out more about the band and Cobain to form their own opinions about what really happenned.

The fact that Nirvanas lyrics were based on real life events (not just a pile of cliches) is also very different from current bands, making Nirvana genuine and easy to relate to.

Nirvana's main love was the music and not what people thought of them or the publicity they could get(they even got thrown out of their own record release party for 'Nevermind' because of a food fight they began)
